Candidates can use the Surpass PDF viewer in SecureClient or HTML web delivery to view PDF files added as source material side-by-side with item content. Candidates can highlight and find text, as well as magnify content.
This article explains how to use the PDF viewer when taking a test.

Open the PDF viewer by selecting PDF source material in the test driver.
Using the PDF viewer
You have access to several controls in the PDF viewer.
Navigating PDF files
You can navigate between pages of a PDF file using the navigation controls or the sidebar.
Zooming in and out
You can zoom in and out of PDF files to magnify content.
To zoom in, select Zoom In . To zoom out, select Zoom Out .
Additional zoom options are available in the Zoom drop-down.
The table belows explains the options available in the Zoom drop-down.
|Automatic Zoom||Sets zoom level automatically based on screen size.|
|Actual Size||Sets zoom level to 100%.|
Sets zoom level to fit one full page on screen.
|Page Width||Sets zoom level so that the PDF file takes up the full width of the PDF viewer.|
|50%||Sets zoom level to 50%.|
|75%||Sets zoom level to 75%.|
|100%||Sets zoom level to 100%.|
|125%||Sets zoom level to 125%.|
|150%||Sets zoom level to 150%.|
|200%||Sets zoom level to 200%.|
|300%||Sets zoom level to 300%.|
|400%||Sets zoom level to 400%.|
You can highlight text in a PDF file.
Click and drag to select text. Select Highlight text to highlight the text.
To remove highlighting, select the highlighted text.
Finding specific text
You can search for specific text in the PDF file.
Select Find in document to open the find toolbar. Enter the text you want to find into the find field.
The number of occurrences of your query is displayed in the find toolbar.
Text that matches your query is temporarily highlighted. This highlight disappears when you delete your query.
Select Highlight all to…
To jump to the next occurrence of your search query, select Find the next occurrence of the phrase .
To jump to the previous occurrence of your search query, select Find the previous occurrence of the phrase .
Switching PDF files
If more than one PDF file is added to the item, you can switch between them in the PDF viewer.
Select Documents to open the document picker. Select the source material you would like to view.
Unpinning and pinning the PDF viewer
You can open the PDF viewer in a window or pinned, side-by-side with item content.
In browsers with a width of 1830 pixels or higher (or a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels or higher in SecureClient), the PDF viewer opens in a pinned, side-by-side view with the item content.
Unpin the PDF viewer by selecting Unpin dialogue .
The unpinned PDF viewer opens in a window within the test driver. Move the PDF viewer by clicking and dragging the title bar.
Pin the PDF viewer by selecting Pin dialogue .
Closing the PDF viewer
Select Close dialogue to close the PDF veiwer.
Reopening a PDF file returns you to the last viewed page
