Uploading OMR results in the Results screen

IMPORTANT: Only users with the Upload OMR Results permission can use the OMR functionality. For more information, read About roles and permissions.
NOTE: Only Multiple Choice, Multiple Response, and Either/Or items are compatible with OMR.

In Surpass, you can upload results for tests taken on paper using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) software. This includes uploading a CSV file containing candidates’ selected answer options in a paper test.

You do not need to schedule paper tests before uploading OMR results. You can upload a maximum of 100 test results in one CSV file.

This article explains how to upload OMR results in the Results screen.

In this article

1. Go to the Results screen

To upload OMR results, navigate to the Results screen in Test Administration.

2. Select Upload OMR Results

Select Upload OMR Results to open the Upload OMR Results dialog.

3. Upload OMR file

NOTE: You cannot upload OMR results for test forms containing dynamic content.

In the Upload OMR Results dialog, select Download Sample CSV to download a sample CSV file. Refer to the following table for information on how to fill in the spreadsheet.

NOTE: Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
NOTE: The Completion Date format can be MM/DD/YYYY or YYYY/MM/DD. For Multiple Response items, the responses for each question must be pipe separated (A | B | C).

Select Register candidates against a Subject if they are not associated to register candidates against a subject or centre that they were not originally associated with in the Setup screen.

Select Upload to upload your CSV file.

4. Complete OMR upload

When the upload is complete, the user logged into Surpass will receive an email. If the upload failed, the issues are described in the email.

OMR results appear in the Results, Audit and Reporting screens. Select Close to return to the Results screen.
