About roles and permissions
This article explains the difference between roles and permissions and how they work in Surpass.

About permissions
In Surpass, a user’s ability to view and interact with different parts of the system depends on their “permissions”. Each part of the system has a unique permission, which acts as a key. Only users with the relevant permission can access a given part of the system. If a user does not have permissions for an area of the system, they will not see it.
About roles
Individual permissions can be combined into a profile called a “role”, which can then be given to a user. A role gives a user all of the included permissions.
Roles can be created on a site, centre, or subject level. Site roles have access to all centres and all subjects. Centre roles have access to all subjects within a specified centre. Subject roles only have access to specified subjects within a centre.
A user can be given multiple roles, each of which contain different permissions for various areas of Surpass.
