NOTE: You must have the Quotas > Review Marked CIs in Quotaspermission to review marked control items in Quotas.
In SecureMarker, examiners cannot mark candidateresponses unless they are assigned a quota for specified items. Quotas can either be unlimited or for a fixed number of responses. Examiners with unlimited quotas can mark responses freely until the response pool is empty. Examiners with fixed quotas can only mark the number of responses they have been assigned.
This article explains how to review marked control items in the Quotas screen, including details on how to view examiner feedback added to a control item.

1. Go to the Quotas screen
To view the Quotas screen, select Quotas on the navigation bar.
NOTE: The layout of the Quotas screen is set to Item View by default.
You can view the data displayed in Quotas in two ways. Select Item View view all items in your chosen qualification and exam. Select Examiner View to view all available examiners across your chosen qualification and exam.
To view all available examiners for your chosen qualification and exam, select Show all examiners.
4. Choose your items and examiners
Choose your items and examiners in the Quotas screen.
Choosing items and examiners in Item View
If you are working in Item View, select an item or item group containing marked control items in the Items grid. Select an examiner in the Examiners grid to view their marked control items.
Choosing items and examiners in Examiner View
If you are working in Examiner View, select an examiner in the Examiners grid. Select an item or item group containing the examiner’s marked control items in the Items grid.
5. Select Review CIs
When working in either Item View or Examiner View, select Review CIs.
6. Choose a control item
Choose a control item to review in the Recently Marked Control Items screen.
About the Recently Marked Control Items screen
The Recently Marked Control Items screen displays all marked control items. Details include the user name of the examiner who marked the control item and the mark awarded to the control item.
Refer to the following table for more information about each column in the Items grid.

Displays the control item’s unique ID code.
Item Name
Displays the name of the control item.
Examiner
Displays the user name of the examiner who marked the control item.
Time Marked
Displays the date and time on which the control item was marked.
Mark Awarded
Displays the total mark awarded to the control item by the examiner.
CI Mark
Displays the total mark awarded to the control item.
CI Tolerance
Displays the tolerance for the control item. This is the number of marks away from the agreed control item mark that an examiner can be before their mark is considered wrong.

You can navigate through pages of data using the Page menu. Use the Rows entry field to define how many rows are displayed in the Items grid. Select Refresh to update the number of rows.
Filtering marked control items in the Items grid
Select the expander () on a column header to open a filter menu. Columns with filters applied are indicated by the filter icon: . You can combine filters across multiple columns.
For Response ID, Item Name, and Examiner, select Ascending to filter the column content in ascending order (A-Z). Select Descending to filter the column content in descending order (Z-A). Select which option you want to view. Select Apply to save the filter. Select Clear to reset the filter.
For Time Marked, you can either select Today to only display responses that match the current date or use the date picker to choose a date range. Select Apply to save the filter. Select Filter off or Clear to reset the filter.
For Mark Awarded, CI Mark, and CI Tolerance, you can either select Exact to display exact marks or use the From and to picker to choose a range of marks. Select Apply to save the filter. Select Filter off or Clear to reset the filter.
Select Clear Filters to reset all filters.
Exporting data to a spreadsheet
In the Items grid, select Download CSV to export the Items grid data to a spreadsheet.
7. Select View CI
Select View CI in the Recently Marked Control Items screen to review the marked control item.
8. Review the marked control item
The Marked Control Items screen displays the marked control item. In this screen, you can review the control item, read examiner feedback, and view the awarded mark.
You can view the control item’s defined mark in CI Mark, the number of marks away from the agreed control item mark in CI Tolerance, and the mark awarded to the control item by the examiner during marking in Mark Awarded.
Viewing examiner feedback and comments
Select the Examiner Feedback dialog to view examiner feedback added to the control item. You can add examiner feedback when creating control items. For more information, read ‘Adding examiner feedback’ in Creating control items in SecureMarker.
Downloading mark schemes
You can download mark schemes attached to items in the Marked Control Items screen.
Select Download Mark Scheme to download a mark scheme attached to the item. Mark schemes are uploaded to items in Surpass. For more information, read Uploading a mark scheme to an item.
Viewing annotations and comments
You can view annotations and comments added to the marked control item by the examiner in the Marked Control Items screen.
Select Annotations to view annotations added to the control item by the examiner.
Select General Comments to view comments added to the response by the examiner during marking.
