Questions are scored item types that test candidates skills and/or knowledge about a particular topic. Candidates’ performance on questions contribute to their overall mark for the test. Surpass currently has many different question types, some of which feature additional modes.
“Learning Outcome” is one the default tag groups in Surpass, along with “Unit” and “Keyword”. You can use Learning Outcome tag values as Marked Learning Outcomes. This means that, for example, an Essay item could have individual scoring values for “Knowledge of subject”, “Use of sources”, and “Spelling and grammar”.
A grade boundary is the minimum threshold at which a grade can be achieved. In Surpass, you can create up to ten custom grade boundaries for your test form (for example, “Fail”, “Pass”, “Merit”, “Distinction”). Grade boundaries can be defined on either percentages or numerical scores.
